The Paris Seine Initiative launches its third Call for Proposals to support research excellence and international development

Cergy, November 30, 2018 – As part of the Paris Seine Initiative for Excellence, a third Call for Proposals is launched for the development of research for the year 2019. The 2017 and 2018 Call for Proposals supported around seventy research projects for a total amount of € 8.7 million.

The 2019 Call for Proposals aims to support projects from the scientific community of the Paris Seine Initiative (PSI), which gathers four institutions: the University of Cergy-Pontoise, ESSEC, EISTI and ENSEA. It also aims to contribute to the development of scientific excellence, to have a structuring effect on the research strategy of the institutions, research teams and researchers and to remove the identified bottlenecks in R&D.

The scientific quality of the projects, their contribution to the research excellence and visibility will be decisive. Projects targeted include the emergence of new research themes, the strengthening of doctoral and post-doctoral training, increased attractiveness and international visibility, the emergence of transversal projects involving several research entities from Paris Seine University and the development of partnership research in connection with the socio-economic world.

Supported projects are expected to contribute to the development of international scientific collaborations with the strategic partners of Paris Seine Initiative: notably in Europe, the University of Warwick and more generally the partners of the European University Alliance EUTopia, (the University of Warwick, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), the University of Ljubljana  the University Pompeu Fabra  and the University of Gothenburg). In Asia, a special partnership has been established in Singapore with Nanyang Technological University. Other partnerships with universities are under development (University of Mauritius, University of Western Cape…).

The third PSI Call for Proposals has two components:

  • A call for scientific projects open to researchers and faculty members of the Paris Seine Initiative research centers. This call follows up on the AAP2017 and AAP2018 editions by funding doctoral and post-doctoral contracts and Emerging research projects. (see the call for projects – Scientific excellence and internationalization).
  •  A call for external applications to the Fellowships in Residence . Program of the Paris Seine Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS). This program aims to welcome in residency researchers (junior and senior) for a duration of 4 months to one year. They will be hosted within the IAS in connection with the laboratories of PSI. This program aims to develop the internationalization of research within PSI and to enhance the attractiveness of its partner institutions. (see the call for projects – Fellowships in residence program@ Paris Seine Institute for advanced studies)

All  applications will be evaluated by a committee of international scientific experts and the results will be given in April 2019.
